Please Help Others With Your Disaster Preparedness Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

LA (City) Fire Department has trained almost 50,000 people in CERT.  Less than 300 are on "call out teams," CERT teams.  In other words only 1:166 volunteer.  Please help.

Volunteering for the Red Cross will give valuable experience, partcularly if you become a shelter worker.

You need not be physically fit to volunteer.  There are plenty of support jobs that need doing.

There many ways to help.  The most grassroots thing you can do for disaster preparedness is to organize you block.

Many are concerned about liability for volunteer activities.  This topic is covered in CERT 1.  If you would like to look at full text of the Volunteer Protection Act of 1997 - click on:  http://www.mtn.org/handiham/vpa1997.html

Here is a U.S. Citizens Corps a link to state liability laws: http://www.citizencorps.gov/councils/liability.shtm.
